I worked for 47 years in the restaurant and bakery industry, if you know anything about them you know they are demanding, A lot of hours and although pay was decent, it was not enough to live comfortably.
Even if I did earn a much bigger income, I did not have the time to live and spend quality time with the family.
I was divorced twice because they wanted more out of life that I could not give, causing financial hardships for years on end.
I missed the family the kids and life most people dream about.
I knew I had to make a change just did not really know what.
I procrastinated so long that the kids grew up and it seemed life for me was over.
I did end up getting married one more time, been 27 years now but she worked 60 hours a week and I still did that and more. I was making good money finally but was never home, paid the bills and did my best to live. At that point, I just looked forward to retiring, collecting social security, and living the golden years.
"Well, that’s another story" About ten years into the job I thought I would retire from I walked in one day and they said sorry the company is closed, today is your last day.
No severance package, no vacation pay, No nothing. Thought I would at least draw my pension to keep me afloat but to find out they hadn't paid into it for 5 years limiting everybody to only 30 - 40% of what we should have received and was told it probably would not last for very much longer.
I went on UN employment, which was cut off in 6 months, had attempted to find good work even back into the restaurant business where I had 30 years of experience but of course age discrimination took place, (so sad!)
I worked part time jobs for a couple years finally buying a bakery business with most every cent I had saved for retirement. Once again good money but no time and never had a chance to catch up the retirement money. Thought I would have to work until 70 or until I died.
A year and a half in, because of the stress and who knows what I ended up having quadruple Bi pass surgery putting me down for many weeks.
Because I owned the business, I had to pay people to run it, leaving me zero but I had no choice.
It became too much.
I was lucky I was able to sell it but leaving me once again without an income.
My last straw (Social security) age 63 and still had to pay taxes on it because I was not quite the 66 required.
Because it was only about 40% of what I had earned my whole life I was not sure what I was going to do. Stress was unbearable, Health was declining again and was to the point real close to losing everything.
There was a light at the end of the tunnel, and it was not a train thank God.
In a few months I was able to find 3 different entrepreneur businesses that I believed would make a big difference in peoples life's.
Startup cost will fit all budgets, Time involved are a fraction of the time of a traditional business, Technology skills will not be an issue would not be an issue. Simple to learn and especially in on case there is a program that go's along with the business that is like college only step by step with 90% done for you and of course Not the college cost.
Helping people avoid the noise on the internet, UN-ethical situations and or scams I feel is a big plus in everyone's life.
I understand what people go through and how important it is to be ready for the UN thinkable and planning your own dreams because working for someone else, you’re only building their dreams.
I will always be grateful for entrepreneurship and the right people involved.
I now get to go fishing and camping and things I like to do. Involve my kids and especially the grand kids giving them a chance to see what life should be like and hopefully instill the entrepreneur life into them when they are ready
I want to help anybody I can avoid the life I had. Not only did entrepreneurship change my life it gave me inspiration to help others to avoid what I went through.
I totally believe the more people we help the better off we will be.
